ABOUT US…Then and Now
Then… Louie and Sherri Cecchini, then 24 and 22 years old, opened the doors for business on April 1, 1986. Off Shore Marine, Inc. was started by two very enthusiastic owners, and with one part-time high school aged employee, in a rented shop that was only 900 square feet. Incredibly, this housed the retail store, repair shop and the office! We carried the SmokerCraft boat line, Tee Nee Boat Trailers, Mercury Outboards & Mercruiser I/O’s, Harbor Master Boat Lifts and a PCM Service Center. At that time, we stored approximately 30 boats. These were modest beginnings!
With business building, in December of 1992 we purchased the present building and the one and one-quarter acre of land that held it, which doubled our workspace and display area. At that time, we had two full-time employees and were storing about 60 boats.
In the spring of 1996, we proudly added the Correct Craft competition ski and wakeboard boat line. This was a turning point for Off Shore Marine. Correct Craft brought us to a new level of respect in the inboard community and expanded our area of business. With business growing rapidly, we were up to three full-time employees, and two part-time employees, and now stored about 80 boats.
In 2003 our little dealership had earned a great reputation and was growing at a rate faster than we could believe. Knowing that a well-run service department is the most important component in any dealership, we converted half of one of our rear storage buildings into a new service department to serve our customers faster and more efficiently. We were now employing five full-time people, two part-time, and were storing 110 boats.
In early 2012, Off Shore began, and finished, a complete remodel of our main building, which houses both our offices and showroom. Later that summer, we purchased four acres of land that adjoined the current Off Shore property to provide us much-needed highway display area. Following two years of approvals, renovations, and expansion, this property now houses the LARGEST new and pre-owned inboard boat inventory in New Jersey!
With that said, in August of 2014, we celebrated another whopper of a milestone. After much thought and planning and with great pleasure, Off Shore, happily signed with The MasterCraft Boat Company as New Jersey's premier dealer. Since we specialize in inboard boat sales and inboard repairs; it only makes sense that MasterCraft now boldly accompanies Nautique in our lineup. We now sell the two top brands of ski and wakeboard boats in our industry!
Now… Although both of Lou and Sherri’s sons had grown up at the dealership working every vacation and day off from school- grammar school through high school- joining the family business was not a sure thing for either one of them. By 2015, both boys had fallen in love with the Off Shore vision and made the commitment to make Off Shore Marine their passion and career. Presently, both boys hold managerial positions and deserve accolades for the growth Off Shore has experienced with their added energy; Louie Jr owns the title of Service Director and Kevin is the Sales Manager.
Off Shore Marine’s reputation for integrity and exceptional service has extended far. In fact, we have several loyal customers from up to 150 miles away! Once again, Off Shore Marine found the need to reevaluate our facility to accommodate the service needs of our customers in order to maintain the exceptional service we have promised. In 2017, we doubled the size of our service shop by expanding and reconfiguring the space. We have also completed a total renovation of our service desk and main office, showroom, and Pro Shop. Our new space even offers a customer reception area complete with coffee, juice, and water.
To date, Off Shore Marine has been nationally recognized as one of the boating industries’ leaders for excellent business practices and we have won awards for outstanding customer satisfaction. A few of the awards we have received are…
